You can store Share It files as online files, therefore you don't use up space on your local hard drive. This means that the file content will not be stored locally but can be downloaded from the server to your computer at any time.

Online files have a small file size (e.g. 0KB or 1KB) and have a .ld file extension. An alternative is to store your Share It files as local files. To store your files as local files see "storing you Share It files locally"

If you don't want files to be cached on your local drive, you can simply:

1. Select the file within Share It

2. Click on the Share It icon

3. Select View Share It in Finder

4. Click on the file you wish to store online, and click on the Store It Share It icon again

5. Then select Selected Files, and click on the option Do not keep a copy on my Mac

Automatically Store Online

You can also change your Store It Share It settings so that you don't automatically download any files that you've added to Store It Share It from another computer.

To do this:

1. Click on the Store It Share It icon

2. Select Preferences

3. Click on Online Files tab and click Just store  my files online....

Any files now added to Share It will be stored as an online file.
